Hello everyone! My name is Michelle Font and I am a senior at Florida
State University. I will be graduating in the spring with a Media Communication
Studies major and a Business minor.
I aspire to work in a radio or television station either broadcasting or
being an on-air personality. Ideally, I can see myself being the personality
for “Deco Drive” in Miami.
In my opinion, there are two types
of people in this world, the ones that are in front of the camera and the ones
behind it. Since the early age of 2, all I have known is that I was meant to be
in front of the camera, the do-er, the go-getter, the leader. I’m not necessarily referring to being an actress or an
entertainer; I’m just simply stating that I will be in the forefront of whatever
I do. For ten years of my life, I have been in the entertainment industry doing
commercials, photo shoots and modeling. It was practically instilled in my
veins that I was made to be in this field and was meant to be in front of the
camera. I later was selected into a school for visual and performing arts, but
chose to take a different route when I came to college. As much as I do love to
perform, I found that majoring in Media Communications would benefit me a lot
more. I would like to say that the above experience has molded me into the
person I am today. I believe that I have great communication skills and superb
leadership qualities.
While in college, I have
gained experience by working with Florida State’s Radio Station, WVFS
Tallahassee, by being a News Anchor. I am currently interning at Red Hills
Broadcasting, which is made up of 4 radio stations: HankFM 99.9, Hot 104.9,
103.1 The Wolf and 106.1 The Path. I have already done my own promotions,
created commercials, learned how to edit and dealt with sales. Interning at Red
Hills Broadcasting has opened my eyes to the radio industry, a field I was not
familiar with. I definitely would not mind working with radio, but I feel I am
more of a natural on television. I am also working with Seminole Productions
working behind the scenes of all the sports events. I believe this is an
advantage in the entertainment industry because I am now knowledgeable of the
other side of the business. I can now identify certain parts of the camera,
know what to shoot and how to shoot it. I am currently taking a course where I
will have a hands on experience in producing, reporting and anchoring my own
packages. I will be applying next semester at a television station to work as
an intern. My number one goal in life is to be successful, and I welcome the
journey I have to take as long as in the end, I am happy.
